LF398 IC: High-Accuracy Sample and Hold Amplifier

The LF398 is a monolithic sample-and-hold circuit engineered with advanced BI-FET technology. It delivers ultrahigh DC accuracy and rapid signal acquisition, coupled with an exceptionally low droop rate. Operating as a unity-gain follower, it achieves a remarkable 0.002% typical DC gain accuracy and acquisition times as fast as 6 µs to 0.01%. A bipolar input stage ensures low offset voltage and wide bandwidth, allowing seamless integration within 1-MHz operational amplifier feedback loops. With an input impedance of 10^10 Ω, it supports high-source impedances without compromising accuracy. P-channel JFETs in the output amplifier contribute to droop rates as low as 5 mV/min with a 1-µF hold capacitor, offering superior noise performance over MOS designs. The LF398 guarantees no feedthrough from input to output in hold mode, even with supply-level input signals. Its fully differential logic inputs are compatible with TTL, PMOS, and CMOS, operating efficiently from ±5-V to ±18-V supplies.
