The CM8870 DTMF Decoder IC provides a complete DTMF receiver solution. It integrates both band-split filter and digital decoder functions into a single chip. Manufactured with state-of-the-art CMOS technology, it ensures low power consumption, typically less than 35mW. The filter section uses a switched capacitor technique for high and low group filtering, alongside effective dial tone rejection. The decoder accurately detects and decodes all 16 DTMF tone pairs into a 4-bit code using digital counting methods. This integrated circuit minimizes external component requirements. It features an on-chip differential input amplifier, clock generator, and a latched three-state interface bus. Only a low-cost TV crystal or ceramic resonator is needed for the clock generator. The CM8870 is available in various packages, including 18-pin DIP, SOIC, and 20-pin PLCC, making it versatile for diverse applications.
