The LM3915 is a high-performance monolithic integrated circuit designed for analog display applications. It efficiently senses analog voltage levels and drives up to ten LEDs, LCDs, or vacuum fluorescent displays. This IC provides a precise logarithmic 3 dB/step analog display, ideal for audio level indicators and battery monitors. Users can easily switch between a dynamic moving dot display and a classic bar graph mode with a single pin. Its innovative design includes regulated and programmable LED current drive, eliminating the need for external current limiting resistors. The entire display system operates reliably from a wide single supply voltage range, from 3V up to 25V. An integrated adjustable voltage reference and an accurate ten-step voltage divider ensure high precision. The robust high-impedance input buffer accepts signals from ground up to 1.5V below the positive supply. Furthermore, it offers exceptional input protection, safely handling inputs of ±35V without damage. With typical accuracy better than 1 dB, the LM3915 delivers reliable and visually clear analog level indications.
